Adult Classes
Though taught separately, empty hand and weapons are but two parts of a whole. Regular students study the complete tradition, since the arts complement each other in a substantive and meaningful way. For example, there may be an aspect of aiki jujutsu training that cannot be appreciated without the context of kenjutsu concepts.
The empty hand arts are together referred to as aiki in-yo ho. They include:
Aiki ju jutsu: The art of receiving and redirecting an opponent's energy through throws and joint manipulation.
Atemi jutsu: The art of striking to vital targets and pressure points with the hands, arms, and feet.
Nearly all forms of weapons are classfied into these two groups:
Ken jutsu: The art of blades, including katana, wakizashi, yoriodoshi, tanto.
Jo jutsu: The art of staves, in all lengths.
Some weapons bridge the boundary between kenjutsu and jojutsu, such as naginata and nagamaki, and are taught under both curricula. For advanced students, there is also training in ancillary techniques, such as hojo waza (techniques for tying and restraining prisoners) and tessen waza (techniques of the samurai war fan).

The techniques are intended for battlefield combat. We train for all situations, armed or unarmed, single and multiple fighters.
Adults (approximately age 16 and older), regardless of gender, race, religious beliefs, or physical condition, are welcome to apply. The techniques do not require great strength or speed to be executed correctly.
We also offer kid's classes for those under the age of 16.
